The River Doesn't Lie

"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters."

-Norman Maclean

I have been finding my self understanding this quote with every year I grow older and move away from adolescents. I have realized in the last few years that the river has a raw truth to her words. The river while incurring disruptions preservers with very little change to its behavior

Look at a river as it flows, it is strong and moving forward while still providing life to everything around. When something falls in the river disrupting its path it changes its course with little resistance, it may cause a few disruptions initially but in the end it prevails.

This is a good takeaway to reflect on ones life. When something disrupts your course, there is always away around it. Sure initially it may not be positive but in the end it may be revealing to ones self, as well as builds oneself to a stronger person.

As you look at a river flowing next time remember the Norman Maclean quote and try to apply to your life a see what you are missing. Under that river lies the truth to her words.
