I think this quote this quote is pretty deep and well before its time. This came in over a 100 years ago, but I think it is very reflective of todays society. People tend to get so tied into what is going on in their own little space and forget to stop and take breath to just observe the natural world.
We tend to get barraged with constant noise and emotions from social media and news around us telling us how to feel or how to react we tend to forget there is more out there than what is immediately in front of us.
What Standing Bear was referencing, was trend to becoming numb to the natural world. That trend will result in us becoming numb to the human world around us. This will create a lack of compassion for the life around us.
Have we hit that point? Are we now to the point of no compassion for others?
